Over the last few months I've been doing TONS of studying on Kickstarter, crowd-building, and building a brand; specifically for a board game. During my research, I was told by several people to check out Stonemaier Games Kickstarter Lessons. I very quickly realized how this site was going to benefit me. Jamey Stigmaier, creator of the hit board game Tuscany, has written the bible-equivalent blog source for guiding you to a successful Kickstarter campaign. I've learned a lot from reading his blogs, and I still have a long way to go, but one lesson stuck out to me the most; don't just blog about your own dumb project...no one cares. (I'm paraphrasing) Use your blog as a tool to help others and benefit them. His full post can be read by clicking here.
So that's what I am going to do. I am in no way going to try to fill the large shoes that Jamey has already filled. I am simply going to be a normal guy documenting my journey through board game development. I'll briefly discuss what I'm doing and I'll spend more time talking about my process and what I've learned from the various mistakes I've made...which are many! So hopefully you will see this as a source of encouragement for your own ideas and join me as I discover what lies ahead. Click here if you would like to read the first post I've made with this new approach. As always, thanks for reading!
